Disney Playmakers

Through collaboration with the UEFA Disney Playmakers the programme has the aim of involving more girls in football.

Through movement, play, and storytelling we aim to provide a safe, fun, and engaging pathway into football.

Our Disney Playmakers project currently runs in a local Southside Primary School in which pupils have ventured through enchanted forrest, rescued lost characters, and worked with magical elements while learning and practicing football skills to help them along the way.

UEFA Disney Playmakers uses an innovative storytelling approach featuring much-loved Disney characters such as Moana, Elsa (Frozen), and Mirabel (Encanto) to help girls see the fun in football and regular physical exercise.

The programme is specifically designed for girls aged 5–8 who are new to football. Our coaches play a key role in kick-starting a life-long love of football and physical activity.

Inspiring Women

Inspiring Women is a new educational programme from Queen’s Park FC Foundation.

Launching in early January 2024, with its first topic “Inspiring Women – in Sport”, an 8 week programme supporting P4 & P5 pupils from selected local primary schools to learn about six inspiring sportswomen from across the globe, and discover their journeys to personal and professional success despite the marginalisation and injustice they faced.

Pupils of all genders will be supported to develop their awareness and understanding of the power of female role models, the importance of collective action to recognise and respond to sexism and misogyny in both sport and society and take inspiration to pursue their personal goals!

Education Team Coordinator, all-round superstar, and inspiring woman herself, Suzanne Grant, is the programme lead.

Suzanne is an ex-Scotland International Women’s team player with 104 Caps and has played for both Arsenal and Celtic Women’s team and a host of others, having scored 4 goals for Scotland and a slew of others in club football. Suzanne is an incredibly inspiring individual with a host of experience in football and coaching to share with the next generation and in continuing to be an inspiration.

Playing For Success

Through collaboration and funding from the SPFL Trust’s Innovation Fund we have been running our ‘Playing For Success’ programme throughout schools in the Southside.

The programme is designed to:

  • Raise attainment
  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • ICT skills

This project leverages play-based learning to enhance literacy, numeracy, and social skills, aligning with theories of social development.
Through game play, children will engage in collaborative learning, fostering both cognitive growth and social interaction. As they create their own games, they’ll apply instructional writing skills and creative thinking, reinforcing key concepts through experiential learning and peer collaboration.
