The Spiders are SWPL2 Champions!

Queen’s Park secure the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League 2 title with a 6-1 victory over Stirling University.

The win, marked by Megan Quigley’s standout performance and with goals from Callaghan, Gallagher, and brace from Kane and Quigley. Queen’s Park’s has maintained an almost flawless record against Stirling, 22-1 over the course of the season. Manager Craig Joyce made strategic lineup changes, and Monica Harty celebrated her 25th appearance of the season. This decisive win, achieved with five games left, cemented The Spiders’ championship title.

In attendance to cheer The Spiders on was both girls and boys from the Foundation’s Community Teams. Logan from our 2013 Boys team unfortunately took the brunt of stray shot from Spiders Captain, Ellie Kane, however, the Spiders made it up to poor Logan by gifting him a signed match ball from the Championship Winning team. Keira and Chloe from our girls U10 squad and Thomas from our boys 2011’s squad even managed to get in on the Champions photo celebrations!
Football Development Manager, John McNeil had this to say on the Title winning season:
“A massive Congratulations and Well done to all involved, the players and staff have been relentless in their pursuit of glory this season and it has been a pleasure so support the group this season. The tireless work of Craig, Iain, and all the staff which has been put in since before the season had even started is a true reflection of the efforts and outcomes on the pitch, and I know this will continue until the season draws to a close. A special thanks must go Club Photographer, Ian Cairns, who has supported and ‘snapped’ the squad all season long, who’s support has been vital to everyone.”
Everyone at the Foundation would like to extend a huge congratulations to the Spiders, Craig Joyce and his staff, and the fans who make it all worthwhile. Well done everyone!
